OnScreenTimer

Java program by Luke Ashcroft: Y8 Age ~12

Introduction

Luke learned Java by watching the videos in TheNewBoston.org. This timer of his own design shows the elapsed time in hours, minutes, seconds and hundredths of a second. A drop down menu allows the user to start, stop, reset move and quit the timer.

The following screenshot shows the timer after stopping.

We have used the Oxidizer facility in Oxygene for Java within Visual Studio to convert most of the Java code to Pascal syntax and then made a few manual adjustments where necessary. See both Luke's original Java source code and our Oxygene for Java version on the following pages. (In order to facilitate code comparison, we have corrected in our version only the spelling of Luke's misleading identifiers based on "miliseconds" instead of changing them to be based on centiseconds. This type of schoolboy error reassures us that we are publishing original code).
